Splurge of the Month

I love this Lulu Guinness makeup bag. I'm seriously considering buying this because it's very practical: a makeup tote will be very useful! Whether toting makeup in your schoolbag or packing it in your carry-on for travel, this practical, designer, and not to mention super adorable bag is a worth it purchase. Plus this isn't too expensive, at $52 it's pretty reasonable. There are also a few other styles with this same pattern, so look around the site if you're interested:)

5 Things You Can Do To Improve Your Mood

Feeling down? Not anymore!
Here are some things that are scientifically proven to make you feel better!

Tangerines: Or rather, the smell of tangerines to be exact. Actually, most citrus fruits that smell sweet will do the trick. Why? The scent taps into your 'happy hormones' and improves your mood.

Put More Plants in Your House: Studies have shown that people who see more green in their life are happier (green as in nature, not the actual color).

Spend Time With Friends: This doesn't really need an explanation:)

Go For a Walk: Getting out and stretching your legs really helps when you feel down- studies have shown that most people feel happier when they get out of their house and get some exercise. Also, it' nice to breathe in some fresh air.

Finish a Minor Chore That You've Been Putting Off: This way, you feel a sense of accomplishment without spending a long time doing it.

hope you feel happy:)

Comment your opinions! I love 2 hear your advice too!

LNA- is this designer tee-shirt label winning you over with their soft, trendy tees, or do you think its completely overpriced and overrated for a bunch of tee shirts?

Anthropologie- do you love this brand's eclectic-sweet style? Or does your inner frugalista despise its over priced clothing?

Forever 21- are you crazy for this trendy store that has tons and tons of super inexpensive finds? Or could you forever do without?

LuLu's- does the extensive, amazing shoe selection give you thrills? Or do you feel not so wild  about this store?

ASOS- is this fabulous, stylish online store that carries thousands of items and designer labels up your alley? Or do you think it's really nothing to ride home about?

Urban Outfitters- does their indie-chic apparel satisfy your fashion style? Or do you feel their clothes are a bit drab and overpriced?

Cusp- do you love their fabulous selection of designers? Or do you find their clothes impractical?

Rosetta Stone-Why You Should Try It

Bonjour! Je m'appelle HeadOverHeelsForHorses!
That means hello, I call myself HeadOverHeelsForHorses in French. I learned this, along with quite a few basics of the French language, in 2 days. How did I do it so quickly? In case you haven't figured it out by the title, I used Rosetta Stone! Rosetta Stone is a language-learning computer software device (wow, that sounded smart:) that claims to be able to teach you almost any language fairly quickly. Well, as you might have read in one of my earlier post's, I like to travel. Unfortunately, I can only speak English and Spanish. So, I decided to tackle French. I bought Rosetta Stone level one for French, and began. I was skeptical at first, both of the program's ability to teach me the language, and of my own to learn it. After all, I've been enrolled in a Spanish class for two years and can barely say hello, I come from America. Anyways, I was sitting at the computer, and began to learn French. I was extremely surprised when I looked up at the clock and saw that an hour had gone by since I had begun. I was even more surprised when I discovered that I could remember what I had learned. Now, I'm hooked on it! It's a really satisfying feeling to be able to accomplish goals that you've been wanting to do for a long time. Here's why Rosetta Stone works- it makes learning a language like playing a game (it kind of tricks you into learning-lol), and because it's fun, you keep going on it. Rosetta Stone is an expensive program though, so choose you're language carefully. I can guarantee you'll love the program.
Who knows? Maybe after I'm done with French, I'll try Japanese:)

au revoir

Song of the Week- E.T. by Katy Perry (feat. Kanye West)

I am so in love with this song right now- it's all I'm playing on my iPod. This isn't a new song of her's, per se, but this is a new version of it that has Kanye on it. I like it because it has a great beat, it's catchy, and Katy is one of my favorite artists! Oh, and in case you're wondering, yes, I am listening to E.T.  as I write this post:)

Superfoods

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to lather avocado to you hair to make it shine, you just have to eat it! In order to look the part, you have to eat the part. These superfoods make you feel great (lots of antioxidants that leave you feeling energized, not fatigued), and look fabulous!

Avocados - I try to eat avocado salads, (just lemon juice, olive oil, and salt&pepper does the trick!) because avocados are so yummy and sooo healthy. Avocados have 60% more potassium that bananas, and are packed with tons of vitamins, like B, E and K. In addition to being extremely beneficial for your health, avocados make your hair more thick&shiny!

Olive oil- olive oil is a much much better alternative to butter or Pam. Olive oil is derived from olives (which I'm pretty sure are fruits, but some may argue that they're vegetables, lol), instead of butter which is made from the fat content of milk, ew. Olive oil contains lipids, which are essential to humans. Olive oil has been linked to preventing colon cancering and lowering high cholesterol. In my opinion, olive oil is much better tasting than butter. I use it for everything, even greasing the pan for pancakes! Olive oil also makes your hair shiny, and makes your shine healthier. (btw, get extra virgin olive oil, the other varieties are not as healthy because they go through processing).

Blueberries - blueberries are filled with antioxidants, and they boost your immune system. They're really yummy and get this: they are ranked #1 in the world of antioxidants and they're being linked to reducing disease and aging in the body. They preserve vision, and are actually considered to help as antidepressants! With all these benefits, how can you not totally love them? (Plus it doesn't hurt that they're super yummy!)

Honey- who doesn't love the deliciously sweet taste of honey? Well now there's more to love. Honey is a lot healthier, more natural and less processed than sugar. It also gives your skin a natural glow. Not only does it make you pretty on the ouside, but it also contains antioxidants, vitamins and protein, and reduces fatty accumulations. Honey has healing benefits and is actually proven to make you feel better when you have a cold. FYI, honey is a great alternative to sugar, but shouldn't be eaten and snacked on like a banana :)

Heels to SWOON for

Perfect peep toes? Those to-die-for pumps? The amazing pair of lace-ups you crave? I've got you covered.

Reptile skin peep toes- these would look great with a pair of dark wash skinnies and a plain white tee. These are so bold that they're best to wear with a classic, simple outfit, to avoid the risk of over-doing it.  Click 2 shop

High heeled oxfords- these are so preppy and fun. Pair with your go-to LBD and you'll look adorably chic. Click 2 shop

Studded booties - I love how edgy and unexpected these are. Even if your style isn't very rocker or edgy, a great pair of heels can give your girly look a tough vibe without going overboard. Click 2 shop

Lace-ups- I love the soft, bamboo color of these, and the cork detailing. These are so summery and fabulous. Click 2 shop

5 different styles, 5 amazing dresses!

Spring is rolling in for sure, and one of my favorite parts about spring is putting away your mittens and Patagonia's and breaking out the cute dresses! :) (btw, click the underlined style to shop each look).

Quirky Sweet - somedays, I love a dress that is a break away from the ordinary. This dress from ASOS is so cute and lets you have fun! The heart print is adorable.

Glam - this dress from LuLu's is sweet but sassy. The soft pale pink is beautiful, but sewn on gems give it some flair.

Edgy - who says edgy can't be pink? Look fearless in this satiny Forever21 dress. This dress has a cool, abstract pattern and is casual enough to wear with friends, but can be dressed up with studded black pumps for your night on the town.

Maxi - I spent a while looking for the perfect maxi to showcase. Maxis are tricky--if you wear one with an allover pattern, you tend to look frumpy. This Charlotte Russe dress has such a relaxed fit. The pattern at the bottom of the dress is different and bigger, which elongates you, instead of making you look like a potato sack. I love how maxis have such a chill, beachy feel, but you can polish them up with hair and makeup.

Garden Party -  A sweet and preppy sundress is very versatile. Whether its prom pictures on the lawn or easter brunch with the family, this Anthropologie dress works.

ciao for now,

Teavana Time!

You've heard the rumors, right? Well, I'm here to confirm them. Yes, it's true that tea is the perfect beverage. It tastes good, smells good, and is good for you! So, where can you get some great tea? That's where Teavana comes in. Teavana is a company that's main goal is to provide you with a healthy, delicious tea. And if you're gonna do something, why not go all out? Teavana certainly did, and to show for it they've got over 100 different kinds of loose leaf tea. What's loose leaf mean? For starters, it means that it tastes better. Loose leaf tea has full tea leaves, so you get a much richer, fuller taste. It also means you get tea that lasts longer.
In addition to tea, you can also buy really cute tea kettles and other tea-related items.
Teavana has tons of stores all over the country, so find one near you!

Dance of the Month: Argentine Tango

Dear WhateverWeFeelLikeBlogging readers,

Argentine tango is a favorite of mine. I usually do standard or international style ballroom tango in competitions, but I do the Argentine for fun. The Argentine originated in Argentina, and it is similar to ballroom tango, however, the steps in the Argentine tango travel more in a circular motion. It is believed that this dance came about because during a time in Argentina when dancing was prohibited, people who attended pub-like restaurants would dance tango around the tables. Anyone who has danced tango would find it quite hard to navigate around tables while moving in the generally straight line of tango. Argentinians thus developed a more flirty, agile derivation of the tango. Argentine tango has the same severeness of ballroom tango, but with a playful twist. A few of my favorite figures in this dance are, ganchos (leg hooks), ochos (figure-eights), and quebradas (breaks). Argentine tango is completely unique and is filled with drama

Mythology of the Month

In addition to ballroom dancing, mythology is a passion of mine. I'll be giving you your dose of  mythology every so often. Enjoy!

Here are a few of my favorite goddesses, which are you most like? ;) It's no lie that we all have a little bit of each of these goddesses in us, but some characteristics stand out more than others.

Hera- wife of Zeus, Queen of Olympus ~ for those of you girls who are "the boss" and have more of a type A personality, you're most like Hera.

Aphrodite- goddess of love & beauty ~ glam divas and beautiful romantics have a heart like Aphrodite. You are passionate and love to flaunt your beauty.

Artemis- goddess of the moon & the hunt ~ strong & fierce girls are no doubt most like Artemis.

Athena- goddess of wisdom ~ if you are scholarly and intelligent then you are most like Athena.

Persephone- goddess of the underworld ~ dark and mysterious, Persephone is wife to Hades. Girls with a dark side are most like this goddess.

Hestia- goddess of the hearth ~ girls like Hestia are fiery and powerful

XOXOMake your Valentine's Day totally out of the ordinary!XOXO

I love Valentine's Day! I love frilly pink hearts, and romantic boxes of truffles topped with red roses as much as the next girl, but I love originality when it comes to the perfect V-Day. This Valentine's Day, break away from the over-played, cliche rituals. Have a totally awesome, and unique Valentine's Day with you sweetheart--or your girls, with these interesting ideas!

<3. Go ice-skating- the idea of gliding along the rink hand-in-hand with your man might seem cheesy, but I think it's way cute! You'll have fun falling all over the place and helping each other up, which ensures tons of laughs and close cuddling.

<3. Dance the night away! - if you're not into a lot of mushy-gushy, but still want to have a great time, dance the night away at a salsa club. (I had to put this in, I'm a dancer!) But seriously, spending time together dancing and showing off your moves is a break from the ordinary and lets your wild-side shine through. (ps. salsa clubs can get very touchy-feely, if you're going as a couple, let other people know).

<3. Go to a concert - surprise your guy with concert tickets! This is really fun, and allows you two to hold hands and sway to the music romantically, or rock out, it depends who you decide to see. If you want a chill, romantic feel, may I suggest Michael Buble or Jack Johnson?

<3. Order in Chinese food and watch old movies - this is a favorite of mine, it's so effortless, but incredibly romantic. Chilling out at home while you eat lo-mein out of the carton and watch your favorite black and white classics is cozy and intimate, and completely adorable.

<3.  Don't have a sweetheart? No worries. Party with your best friends! Don't sit at home, depressed because you're dateless, have fun! Plan a cool theme-party, go to that awesome salsa club with your girls, or chill with a low-key sleepover. Just cheer up and have a GREAT time!

Your Spring Wardrobe

Winter's final full month is upon us, and you know what that means. It's time to start planning and buying your spring wardrobe! It's best to start now- you don't want to wait until the last minute. If you procrastinate, then by the time you finally get around to going shopping, all the cute clothes will be gone and you'll be stuck wearing some old cut-off's that normally, you wouldn't be caught dead in. To avoid this- start shopping now! Here are some stores that I reccomend for your new closet-
Anthropologie- Their clothes can be pricey, but if you add a few pieces of their clothes to your collection, it'll add a nice pop to your wardrobe without emptying your wallet.
Sand Lines Tee(how cute is this top!?)
Cusp- I talked about this store in one of my other post's, so I'll just give a quick overview. It's like a neiman Marcus for teens and young adults, and their clothes, like Anthropologie's, are on the expensive side, but again, just add a few pieces that you really like from them, instead of buying everything in sight.
V-Neck Cloud Tee(I love this Vince cloud tee)
ASOS: DancingPrincess showed this store to me, and it's a fashion store from the UK that features cool, european designers. Their stuff is fairly well priced, but beware, the pricing is in European currency, so make sure to do the conversion from Euro's to dollars before you hit 'add to cart'.
ASOS Scallop Embroidered Short(the olive and beige colors in this outfit look amazing together)
When you supplement these stores with some less expensive ones, ta-da! You've got a brand new, completely adorable, affordable wardrobe!
Happy Shopping:)

Must-Have of the Month- February's Item!

February has officially begun, and with the new month comes a new must-have! This month's got to have it item is: skinnyskinny soaps! skinnyskinny is a company that is seriously dedicated to being organic and eco-friendly. They make a wide variety of  'green' products, but my favorite are the soaps. Why? Because not only are their soaps moisturizing, exfoliating, and good-smelling- but they also come in the most adorable packaging! skinnyskinny is so determined to be eco-friendly that instead of wrapping the soaps in plastic, they adorn them in book pages! Not only is that beyond cute, but it's also a fantastic way to recycle! If you purchase a set of six soaps, they come packaged in a box (made completely from recycled materials) that looks exactly like a book! skinnyskinny has had their products featured in O magazine, The New York Post, and Elle, to name a few. So, if you want to keep your skin soft and healthy this month, you know exactly what to buy:)
