Pep Up Your Playlist- Great Workout Songs

Alright, so you're at the gym, halfway through your workout. You've still got another 25 minutes on the treadmill, but you're incredibly bored and tired. You make a last-ditch attempt to find a good workout song on your iPod, but the next few songs you shuffle through look something like this... My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson, and Give Me Everything Tonight by Pitbull. These songs, while fine for other occasions, are either too 'chill' or too overplayed to get you through your workout. Here's my most recent Workout Mix that's helped me from falling asleep at the gym.

1. Wings- Little Mix
2. Heartbeat- Childish Gambino
3. Good Swim- Frank Ocean
4. Vegas Girl- Conor Maynard
5. Runaway Baby- Bruno Mars
6. Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix)- Florence + The Machine
7. We'll Be Coming Back- Calvin Harris Feat. Example
8. Turn Up the Love- Far East Movement
9. Let Me Love You- Ne-Yo
10. As Long As You Love Me- Justin Bieber feat. Big Sean
11. Rabiosa- Shakira feat. El Casa
12. Pound the Alarm- Nicki Minaj
13. Every Time You Go- Ellie Goulding
14. Everybody Talks- Neon Trees

Add a few of these songs to your workout playlist, and they'll put the fun back into exercising!

Check It Out- Hyperbole and a Half

Hey everyone! Just wanted to do a quick blog post to tell you to check out another blog. Wait- that doesn't sound quite right... let me try this again.
My newest obsession is a blog called 'Hyperbole and a Half'. It's sort of like an online memoir, with pictures. I can guarantee that you will laugh out loud, and probably snort whatever you're eating/drinking through your nose.*
Check it out here

ta ta for now, HOH4H
*DISCLAIMER* I am not responsible for any stains on clothing from above mentioned food-laugh-snort syndrome.

Shoe of the Month- Ciao Bella Riding Boots

It's January, and everyone knows what that means. Constantly trudging through sleet, snow, and hail while braving freezing temperatures. I don't know about you, but I hate wearing super high heels in winter, because I hate walking on top of black ice, simultaneously worrying about a) if I look cute, and b) am I going to slip and crack my head open on this sheet of ice. Thanks to my Ciao Bella's, I don't worry about either, because a) the boots are distinctive and cute, so I know I look good, and b) slipping is a lot harder to do when you aren't wearing your stiletto booties.
I like that this shoe has a slight heel (1 inch), because they are wearable in winter without being fashion-homocide. My only advice- they can be a bit expensive, so I suggest getting them off of bluefly, but wait until bluefly has a good show sale. (You shouldn't have to wait too long for this as they have sales quite often) Click here to shop.

Your Guide To A Cute Winter Parka

If you live in a region where it's cold during the winter, you most likely will want a warm parka. It's so hard to find a cute parka, because most of them look puffy and ridiculous. But you don't have to sacrifice fashion for warmth with these cute ideas!

Guess faux fur- this jacket has a simple, streamlined shape + it's warm without being too puffy. + It comes in black and white, which both match with almost anything  Click to shop.

Toggles- a toggled peacoat is a chic, classic style. but try a toggled parka! This Urban Outfitters coat has the appeal of a toggled peacoat with some added warmth! Click to shop.

Crop parka from Gap- this cropped parka has a unique cut & interesting shape. This parka is great for someone with an edgy style. Click to shop.

.

Long- you'll be sure to stand out in this long, fashion-forward ASOS parka. The high waistline is universally flattering + I love the wide faux fur collar. Click to shop

Bomber- if you don't want a super long jacket, bombers are great. This one is puffy but since it's smaller at the bottom, the puffiness isn't overpowering. I love the dark purple color, because you won't find many people with it, but it also comes other colors. Click to shop.

BuzzWorthy Beauty: The Best Hand Cream

There are so many products out there that claim to relieve very dry & cracked hands, but I haven't come across any that really work. That is, until I discovered Camille Beckman's Glycerin Hand Therapy. Honestly, this stuff really works! Even just a pea-size amount instantly moisturizes. It's thick and creamy and resembles more of a body butter rather than a liquid-like lotion, but it doesn't leave hands super greasy! They're also very reasonably priced. Not to mention it comes in a few great-smelling scents. Oriental Spice is my fave--it smells exotic and warm. Some other scents include, French Vanilla, Mango Beach, Tuscan Honey and White Lilac, just to name a few. Click here to visit the Camille Beckman website. :)

Piercings: Hot or Not

A pierced ear is common, even for guys. Many people even get multiple ear piercings ranging from cartilage rings to tragus piercings to gauges. The ear is not the only common place for piercing: some people get nose studs and rings, naval, lip, eyebrow and even tongue piercings. But how far is too far? It's definitely a personal choice, and people are free to get however many or however few piercing they like, but is there a point at which it just becomes downright gross? You're at risk for infection when you get pierced, especially in sensitive areas like the tongue and belly button. During pregnancy, naval piercings stretch out and put you at a higher risk for infection. If you're thinking about getting a piercing, make sure you go to a salon that's clean and reliable & be sure to follow all of their instructions on caring for your piercing. At home piercings should not be done: they're unsanitary and put you at a higher risk for infection!

Comment your opinions on whether you think they're are hot or not--and to what extent!

Song of the Week: I Like It Like That- Hot Chelle Rae

Last week, I made a post about a song called Glad You Came, and my predictions are becoming true, as it is slowly but steadily climbing higher on the billboard charts:) I'm going to try my luck again, and predict that I Like it Like That by Hot Chelle Rae will be a hit by mid-December. I love this song because it has a catchy chorus, great vocals, and clever lyrics. What do you think? Check it out here on youtube!

Splurge of the Month- Carriere Freres Candles

Candles are an obsession of mine, I'm always looking for good smelling ones. I'm picky about my scents though, I don't like anything to synthetic smelling or harsh. I have yet to find one Carriere Freres candle that I think is to perfumey.  All of their candles smell great, and have many subtle notes of flowers that combine to make a sensational scents. The con, however is that they're pretty expensive. One candle cost's about $45.00 (about 29 pounds). All in all, though, I think that they're great to splurge on, and they last forever (each candle burns for about 50 hours). My favorite scents are Jasmininum Officinale (Jasmine), Lonicera Fragrantissima (Honey Suckle), and Lilium Regale (Royal Lily).

Nail Polish...Without The Harmful Chemicals!

Who doesn't love getting a cute manicure? There are so many cool & creative things you can do with your nails. What most people don't realize is that most nail polishes contain dangerous carcinogenic(are believed to cause cancer) chemicals, like DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde. When I heard this I vowed never to use nail polish again. I couldn't handle it! I missed having my nails bright fuschia, or mint green, lavender, glittering blue--you name it! I later stumbled upon the solution. There are certain brands out there that are DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde free! I recommend Karma Organic, Nubar Polish, and Essie (these are all clickable links!) which is found in most salons. And don't worry, you're not sacrificing anything by using these brands--the colors are fabulous! I also recommend using Karma Organic nail polish remover--it doesn't have all of the nasty chemicals that the usual acetone remover contains. (P.S. All of the cute nail polish colors to the left can be found on Karma Organic!)

Eat What You Want This Holiday Season!

Whenever I hear advice about food swaps during Thanksgiving, I ignore them completely. Don't get me wrong--I'm all for healthy alternatives! But, in my opinion, Thanksgiving is that day where its okay to pig out! The holidays are definitely a time of serious eating. My advice is to eat healthy during the time leading up to holidays, but don't stress during the actual holiday. Relax, and enjoy yourself...it's definitely no fun to be worried about what you should and shouldn't eat when everyone is having a great time. Although, I  do recommend hitting the gym more than ever, during the holiday season. Try to get a vigorous cardio workout at least 3 times a week.

Song of the Week: Glad You Came- The Wanted

I'm always listening to my ipod, and I'm always looking for new music. Anytime I hear a good song on the radio, it's stuck in my head for a week. That's where I heard this song. Glad You Came is a catchy pop song with an infectious melody that you'll be humming along to for days. My prediction? This song will be a hit before the month is over. Check it out on youtube and see if you like it!
