I am the only one who is so sick of hearing endless rants like Far East Movement's "G6" and Ke$sha's "We R Who We R?" Most music played on the radio these days is either a drunken, over-synthesized song about clubbing, a degrading[to women] and offensive rap, an idiotic remix, or a combination of all three. Usher's "OMG," is a song I find particularly unbearable. As a father of two, Usher sings,"Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow. Honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow." This is so disgusting! Why is this even on the radio? Where has all the decency gone? As far as I'm concerned, the decency of the "hot" music of today has gone down the drain. With repulsive and inane lyrics like, "Girl, you know I love the way you shake it in them jeans. Bottoms up, bottoms up, throw ya hands up," from Trey Songz's "Bottoms up," which is a song about guzzling down every drink imaginable, makes me cringe. This kind of music is having a negative effect on young people. However, not all new music is bad. A couple of popular artists (I'm not mentioning my favorite indie and alternative picks, just the pop ones) I find have true talent include:
Michael Buble - his style is Sinatra-esque, his voice is beautiful
Rihanna - she has a great sound(her songs are interesting)&such a beautiful voice(I love her accent!)
Florence + The Machine - she is so unique. her songs are upbeat, catchy, and smart
Taylor Swift - her songs are honest and sweet
Lady GaGa - who isn't GaGa 4 GaGa?!
Juanes - his songs are so meaningful. Juanes is such an amazing person, and his music is great. Note: it's all in Spanish :)
