What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the words "Flying Trapeze"? For me, I automatically think of a cute little monkey, swinging through the air, hanging onto a banana bar. Strange-I know. A few seconds after that thought, my brain actually processes the words, and I think of circus's and acrobats. It always looked like alot of fun, but I never realized that normal people (not that acrobats aren't normal, but you know what I mean) could do it, too. That was, until a friend suggested we go to a class there. Willing to try anything, I agreed, and we went to the school in NYC the following week. We arrived slightly late, and when we walked in the door an instructor was demonstrating what we would be able to acheive by the end of our first lesson. There were two people, swinging 30 ft. off the ground, hanging upside down by their feet. Then one flipped off the bars, catapulted through the air, and grabbed the other instructors feet. When they got down to the ground, one of them turned and smiled at me, and cheerily said, "You're next!" Oh crap. I dutifully put on my harness, and climbed up the massive ladder. When I finally reached the top, a woman quickily clipped a metal buckle to my harness. It was then that I looked at the ground, and nearly peed my pants. I was really high up. Before I had time to scream, I found myself falling off the platform-thank god I was holding onto the bar. A few minutes later, when I was safely on the ground, I could not stop smiling-it was like some weird adrenaline rush thing:)
The next day, my muscles were extremely sore, but it was completely worth it! If you want to find a trapeze school near you, click here. I highly recommend it:)
